There is a small shop/Post Office in the village, about 5 minutes' walk. It sells confectionery, wines and spirits, and a range of groceries. Alyth has 3 grocers, and there are Tesco stores in Kirriemuir and Blairgowrie.

Activities based in Glenisla

• Fishing - trout fishing in the river in front of the chalet, and loch fishing by arrangement with East Mill Holidays.
• Knockshannoch Highland Adventure Centre (about 1 mile away) runs activity days, and can provide Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Hill Walking, Wall Climbing/Abseiling, and Archery.
• Glenmarkie Health Spa and Riding Centre (About 3 miles away) The riding centre provides lessons or hacking through the Forestry Commission woodland.
• Phase One Fun (about half a mile away) Centre for water activities, sailing and canoeing.
• Hill-walking - There are lots of tracks through Forestry Commission land and over East Mill Farm.
